Drive about an hour to the village of Ban Nongluang, where you will meet your local guide for an important safety briefing before you begin a hike through coffee plantations and vegetable gardens to a semi-evergreen forest.
Time to hit the trail! Start by winding downhill past ravines, waterfalls and flower-studded plateaus. Along the way, the guides will point out plants used in village kitchens or as herbal medicines. You will then cross a soaring forest walkway above a steep river valley. Pass Tiger Waterfall and reach the larger Kamet Waterfall, where water plunges more than 100 metres into a densely forested basin. After a break for lunch, ride a nearby zip line through the trees!
Settle for the night in the camp and have dinner at a restaurant nearby. Over dinner, swap stories from your exciting day! Then retire to tree houses perched about 10 metres above the forest floor. They are made of wood, bamboo and grass, in traditional Lao style and can only be reached by a zipline.
